Dimitar Berbatov is tipping Anthony Martial to develop into a top player at Manchester United in the seasons to come.

The 21-year-old striker has earned a reputation as one of Manchester United’s most promising attacking talents since arriving at the club from Monaco back in September 2015.

He has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Manchester United this season and has so far only made three starts in the Premier League this season.

However, Martial has been in good from from the bench for the Red Devils and has scored four goals and made two assists in the Premier League so far this term.

The striker also played 75 minutes of Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

And Berbatov, who played alongside Martial at Monaco, is expecting big things from the striker in the seasons to come.

Speaking on BT Sport after Tuesday’s win over Benfica at Old Trafford, Berbatov said: “Like we all do, sometimes Martial overdoes things.

“When you have the chance to shoot, you shoot. When you have the chance to pass, you pass.

“He was one of the best players on the pitch [against Benfica]. He can continue this way. He is going to be one of the best.”

Martial will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action on Sunday with a crunch clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
