Eric Cantona names the player he wants to see Man United sign in January
Eric Cantona admits he'd love to see Manchester United make a move to sign Javier Pastore from PSG next year
Eric Cantona has urged Manchester United to make a move to sign Javier Pastore from Paris Saint-Germain next year.
Manchester United are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window draws ever nearer.
Jose Mourinho ended up signing three players in the summer transfer window after completing deals for Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
However, it is believed that Mourinho could consider bolstering his squad in the mid-season window as he looks to try and give his side their best chance of catching Manchester City in the race for the title.
Argentina international Pastore has found his first-team opportunities to be limited this season, with the 28-year-old only having started four Ligue 1 games for the French side.
And Manchester United legend Cantona believes that Pastore could be the man to take the mantle as the club’s new number seven.
Cantona told Full Time Devils: “I love Pastore who plays for PSG – but he doesn’t play.”
Asked if Antoine Griezmann could fit that role, Cantona replied: “Yes, why not? But Pastore is very special he surprises you every time he touches the ball, he will surprise you and give the ball to someone that no one saw.
“He surprises all the fans. I think he’s a great player. He plays for Argentina but he doesn’t play for Paris which is a small club.”
Manchester United beat Brighton 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday to keep alive their Premier League title hopes.
The Red Devils return to Premier League action on Tuesday with a trip to Vicarage Road to take on Watford.
