Manchester United may have been handed a big boost in their pursuit of Gareth Bale after Real Madrid decided to sell the Wales forward, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish newspaper AS is reporting that the La Liga outfit have finally lost patience with the attacker after his latest injury set-back.

The same report claims that the 19 injuries suffered by Bale since his move to the Bernabeu has proved too much for a man they had seen as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for Bale in the past and the rumours of his situation being a source of uncertainty may give Jose Mourinho’s men hope in the race for his signature.

Meanwhile, another report in the Daily Mirror claims that Real Madrid have placed an £85m asking price on Bale as they look to offload the forward.

That move has prompted apparent interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale suffered a thigh problem in recent days and the fresh injury is likely to rule him out of action for the rest of the year.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window draws nearer.
