Gary Neville sends message to Man United about Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Gary Neville offers a blunt assessment of Henrikh Mkhitaryan's display for Manchester United against Chelsea
Gary Neville has questioned Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s role in the team after Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Armenia playmaker featured from the start at Stamford Bridge but failed to gain a foothold in midfield for the Red Devils before he was substituted in the 62nd minute in west London.
Mkhitaryan has started 10 of Manchester United’s 11 Premier League games so far this season, but he seems to have suffered a dip in form in recent weeks.
The midfielder was called out by Jamie Carragher after the game for his performance against Chelsea.
And former Manchester United defender Neville offered a blunt assessment of Mkhitaryan’s display when analysing the Red Devils’ performance in midfield after the game at Stamford Bridge.
Neville simply said on Sky Sports: “Henrikh Mkhitaryan struggled badly.”
Mkhitaryan will be hoping to win back a place in the first team for Manchester United when they host Newcastle at Old Trafford after the international break.
The 28-year-old has scored one goal and made five assists in the Premier League so far this season, but he has not contributed an assist or goal in his last six outings for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Manchester United are now second in the table and eight points behind leaders Manchester City.
