Henrikh Mkhitaryan opens up to Man United fans
Henrikh Mkhitaryan explains why he chose to sign for Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted that he moved to Manchester United because he felt like he needed a fresh challenge in his career – and says he has no regrets.
The Armenia international signed for the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund back in July 2016 as one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings at the club.
Mkhitaryan made a slow start to life at Old Trafford and came in for criticism for some of his performances for the Red Devils in the first few months of his career in the Premier League.
However, he seemed to adapt in the second half of the campaign and helped Manchester United to win both the Europa League and League Cup under Mourinho last term.
Mkhitaryan has again come in for criticism for some of his recent displays, with Gary Neville admitting that he “struggled badly” during Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat by Chelsea before the international break.
Now, though, Mkhitaryan has lifted the lid on why he opted to leave Dortmund to sign for the Red Devils, and explained why he knew it was the right move for him.
Mkhitaryan told MUTV: “I didn’t want to regret the things that I didn’t do in my life.
“If you achieve your dreams and you take new opportunities and new goals and you achieve them then you are becoming more stronger. I always knew that I have to do more.
“I have to change, I have to try something else, then again, again, again and that’s how I arrived in Manchester.
“New challenges and winning them all.”
He will be hoping to feature when Manchester United take on Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
