The 29-year-old’s situation at The Emirates has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months after both he and Alexis Sanchez entered into the final few months of their contracts.
Sanchez was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer, but the switch failed to materialise as Arsenal opted not to sell the Chile international.
Ozil’s situation continues to be a source of uncertainty as the clock ticks down on his current contract at The Emirates.
Manchester United have been touted as a possible contender to sign Ozil in the summer on a free transfer if he does indeed choose to leave the north London side.
And Arsenal legend Wright has admitted that Ozil would be a quality signing for Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Wright said: “Mesut Ozil to Manchester United on a free looks a shoo-in. I’m sure Jose would love to do that.
“That would frighten me to death. He is a great talent and having great players around him would lift him up as well.
“I’m sure him and his agent would not push it this far if they were going to sign (for Arsenal).”
Manchester United are set to come up against Ozil on Saturday evening when the Red Devils travel to Arsenal in the Premier League.
Mourinho’s men, who are second in the table, warmed up for the game with a 4-2 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.
