Gary Neville sends clear advice to Man United about catching Man City
The Man United legend tells Jose Mourinho's men to be ready to capitalise on any Man City mistake
Gary Neville has told Jose Mourinho that Manchester United have to be ready for when Manchester City finally slip up in the title race.
The Red Devils started the weekend five points behind Manchester City after Manchester United dropped points away to Liverpool and Huddersfield Town.
Mourinho’s side bounced back with a 1-0 win against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford before their trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Alvaro Morata scored a 55th-minute winner in west London to help Chelsea ease to a 1-0 win against Manchester United.
Manchester City were 3-1 winners against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus.
The Citizens have won nine times and drawn twice in their opening 11 Premier League games to build an eight-point lead over Manchester United.
Former Manchester United defender Neville told the Red Devils to be ready for when the first cracks show in Manchester City’s title bid.
Neville told his Sky Sports podcast: “Man United are eight points behind. They’re the nearest to them.
“They have Arsenal away in a few weeks and then Man City not long after, Man United have to hang onto their coattails.
“You’ve got to hope there is a crack there somewhere.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the League Cup and the Europa League.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson got his hands on his 13th top-flight crown.
