Gary Neville: Jose Mourinho can’t win at Man United
The Man United legend admits Jose Mourinho is in a difficult position in terms of the Red Devils' tactics

Gary Neville believes Jose Mourinho is in a lose-lose position when it comes to his Manchester United tactics.
The Red Devils were criticised for a goalless draw with bitter rivals Liverpool at Anfield after Manchester United showed a lack of attacking adventure despite the Merseyside outfit’s well-documented defensive problems.
Manchester United lost 2-1 to promoted side Huddersfield Town before the Red Devils produced another unconvincing performance in a 1-0 win against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford thanks to Anthony Martial’s late winner.
The 20-time English champions produced a more attacking display at Stamford Bridge but Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea after Alvaro Morata’s 55th-minute winner at Stamford Bridge.
The Red Devils have lost significant ground on their title rivals Manchester City and Mourinho’s men are now eight points adrift of the leaders.
Former Manchester United defender Neville believes Mourinho is in a difficult position at Old Trafford given recent criticism of his tactics.
“You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“This [Stamford Bridge] has been the toughest ground for Man United over the past 20 years.
“Chelsea have a good record against Man United. Mourinho looked confident. He looked smooth and relaxed.”
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but level on points with third-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.
