Andy Cole reveals Marcus Rashford’s best position for Man United
The Man United legend opens up about Marcus Rashford's best position in the Red Devils team
Andy Cole is convinced Marcus Rashford will end up as a centre-forward in the Manchester United team.
The England international has made a promising start to the Premier League campaign in his second season under Jose Mourinho.
Rashford has scored three goals and has made four assists in 12 appearances in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old striker is rivaling Anthony Martial for a starting place in the Manchester United team.
The English forward teed up club-record signing Paul Pogba to score Manchester United’s third goal in a 4-1 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday.
Rashford has been utilised largely on the left wing in the current campaign, although the forward was on the right side of Mourinho’s team against the Magpies.
Former Manchester United striker Cole believes Rashford will eventually end up in a centre-forward role in the Red Devils team.
“I look at him at the moment, he’s scoring goals and he’s bringing a lot more things to his game,” Cole told ESPN FC.
“I think he will end up as a centre-forward. I just think at the moment having Lukaku in the team and obviously Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] coming back as well, I think it’s good.
“He will learn off the left because when he becomes a centre-forward he will have the full package.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table after mixed domestic campaign under Mourinho.
The Red Devils won the League Cup and the Europa League in the 2016-17 season to secure some silverware.
Their European triumph secured their place in the Champions League for this term.
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League crown since 2013.
