The Red Devils boss has resisted the temptation to start Martial and Rashford in the same Manchester United side for most of the 2017-18 Premier League season so far.
Martial scored Manchester United’s third goal in a 4-2 win over Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night to take his tally to six goals in 14 Premier League games.
Rashford has managed to hold down a starting spot on the left wing ahead of Martial for most of the Premier League campaign so far, although he has only netted four goals and made three assists in 10 starts and four substitute appearances.
Former Manchester United midfielder Scholes warned Mourinho that Martial and Rashford don’t look happy at Old Trafford despite the pair being amongst the goals in the Premier League so far.
“I can’t imagine these players [Rashford and Martial] enjoying the way they’re playing at the minute,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“OK, they’re winning, but they’re not playing great football, there aren’t many links between them. They seem to be playing in positions, Rashford, Martial, playing in positions but not really staying in those positions. They seem all over the place, they don’t seem to have any links, any partnerships between them.”
Manchester United won the League Cup and the Europa League last season to get some silverware under their belt following Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May 2016.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table.
Manchester United haven’t won the title since 2013.
