The Spanish midfielder has been something of a regular fixture in the first team at Old Trafford since Mourinho’s appointment at the club back in the summer of 2016.
However, Herrera has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot this season and only made four starts in Manchester United’s first 10 Premier League games.
Mourinho publicly questioned Herrera’s post-match comments in the wake of Manchester United’s surprise defeat by Huddersfield Town in the Premier League last month.
It led to reports suggesting that Mourinho had fallen out with the 28-year-old Spanish midfielder.
However, Mourinho has revealed that he is still on very good terms with the midfielder as he dismissed any talk of a falling-out between the pair.
Speaking at a news conference ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea, Mourinho said: “I love my players. You try to create a history because of my words after Huddersfield but there is no history about it.
“That I was not speaking with Ander Herrera any more?
“Ander Herrera is the kind of player I have to push away because he wants to speak with me all the time.
“I don’t know where you get these kind of stories but yes, I am happy.”
Manchester United are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season after they finished sixth in the table last term.
Herrera was named as the man of the match as Manchester United beat Ajax 2-0 in the Europa League final in Stockholm back in May as the Red Devils secured qualification for the Champions League this term.
