Jamie Carragher: Top 25-year-old ‘massive upgrade’ on Man United midfield
The Liverpool FC legend opens up about Paul Pogba's return to the Manchester United side and how it has helped the Red Devils

Jamie Carragher believes Paul Pogba is a unique player and massive upgrade on the rest of the Manchester United midfield.
The 25-year-old made his return to the Manchester United team last weekend for the visit of Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle side.
Pogba created Anthony Martial’s equaliser before he got on the score sheet in a 4-1 victory over the Magpies at Old Trafford.
The France international has scored three goals and has made three assists in five games in the Premier League this term.
His electric start to the season was cut short when the Manchester United midfielder pulled his hamstring in a 3-0 win over Basel.
Pogba attracted some criticism for a muted start to his second spell at Manchester United but has found his feet this term.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher explained what makes Manchester United’s record signing such a special midfielder.
“His influence was massive. It was huge,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“He is a massive upgrade on what they’ve got. You’d expect [him] to be a major upgrade. He isn’t a conventional central midfield player.
“He will pop up in different positions. He can beat a full-back. How many central midfielders can do that?”
Pogba completed a then world-record £89m move to Manchester United from Serie A giants Juventus last summer following Jose Mourinho’s appointment.
The Frenchman left Manchester United in 2012 after Sir Alex Ferguson failed to guarantee him regular first-team football.
