Gary Neville defends Man United signing’s performance at Chelsea
The Manchester United legend defends Romelu Lukaku's performance in their 1-0 loss to Chelsea

Gary Neville has defended Romelu Lukaku about his performance at Chelsea despite Manchester United succumbing to a 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgium international moved to Manchester United in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Everton after snubbing the chance to return to west London.
Lukaku scored seven goals in his first seven games in the Premier League to silence concerns about his ability to perform for a top club such as Manchester United.
However, the 24-year-old still has to answer lingering questions about his ability to have an impact against the Red Devils’ title rivals.
Lukaku failed to score in a goalless stalemate with Liverpool at Anfield before the Belgian striker continued his drought in a 1-0 victory over Tottenham.
The former Anderlecht forward returned to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon but the west London side’s summer addition Alvaro Morata scored a 55th-minute winner to secure a 1-0 win for the hosts.
Morata has netted seven goals in 10 games in the 2017-18 season to draw level with Lukaku’s tally.
However, former Manchester United defender Neville believes Lukaku got little help from his midfield team-mates and suggested the scoreline would have been the same had the Belgian been in a Chelsea shirt.
“If you put Lukaku at the other end, it would be a different outcome,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“He was at it. He was making the runs. The service was poor.”
Lukaku failed to break into the Chelsea team under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge before completing a £29m move to Everton in 2014.
