Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be a big weapon for Manchester United when the veteran striker is back fit, Danny Higginbotham has claimed.

The former Sweden international signed 28 times in all competitions in his first season at Old Trafford following a free transfer to Manchester United from Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain in 2016.

Ibrahimovic got his hands on the League Cup and the Europa League, although his campaign was cut short when he suffered a serious knee problem back in April.

Manchester United signed Ibrahimovic to a new one-year deal in August despite signing Romelu Lukaku in a £75m deal from Everton in the summer transfer window.

The 35-year-old made his first appearance of the 2017-18 season from the bench in a 4-1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League.

Former Man United defender Higginbotham believes Ibrahimovic will be a great option for Red Devils boss Mourinho.

“When Ibrahimovic gets fit, he gives a different option for Man United and Mourinho,” Higginbotham told Sky Sports.

“What an option to have. They’ll have two excellent centre-forwards but two very different ones.”

Manchester United are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson got his hands on his final top-flight crown.

Lukaku scored seven times in seven Premier League games before his six-game goalless run.

However, the summer signing failed to find the net in six games in all competitions before the visit of Newcastle United.
