Romelu Lukaku is confident that Manchester United will be able to rediscover their top form in the coming weeks after their recent struggles.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea before the international break to dent their Premier League title hopes and leave them eight points behind leaders Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho’s men also suffered a shock defeat by Huddersfield Town last month as the Red Devils lost some ground in the race for the title.

Manchester United had started the season in fine form but they have struggled to keep their performance levels up in recent weeks.

Lukaku made something of a strong start to life at Old Trafford following his move from Everton in the summer transfer window, but his form has dipped off in recent weeks.

Indeed, Lukaku has failed to find the net in his last seven outings in all competitions for Manchester United.

However, the 24-year-old Belgian forward is confident that the Red Devils will come good in the coming weeks and months as the hectic festive period looms large.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Lukaku said: “Lately we haven’t performed like we did at the start of the season.

“We started by blowing teams away, being dominant and creating chances.

“But in the last few weeks we didn’t play at the same level and that made it more difficult for me.

“That’s the sort of thing you have to go through in the season, but now there are players coming back from injury and hopefully we can deliver performances even better than at the start of the season.

“We can create more chances and more goals.”

Manchester United return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Newcastle United next weekend.
