The Serbian midfielder opted to leave defending champions Chelsea in the summer transfer window and sign for the Red Devils despite having played a key part in the Blues winning the title last term.
Matic has slotted straight into the first team at Old Trafford since his move and has already made 13 Premier League appearances for Jose Mourinho’s men.
The 29-year-old’s move to Old Trafford raised some eyebrows after Matic played an integral role in helping Chelsea to lift the Premier League title under Antonio Conte last season.
However, the Serbia international has now insisted that he always dreamt of playing for Manchester United – and is now looking to win the league with them.
Midfielder Matic is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “To play for Manchester United has always been a dream of mine.
“I’m living my dream now, and of course I have a dream about winning the league with United.
“I still remember I watched the Champions League final in 1999 on the television. I know everything, or at least almost everything, about Manchester United.
“United was a big team back then. They had many fantastic players, but for me, Ryan Giggs was the greatest. When Nemanja Vidic came to United, I also admired him.”
Matic will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils take on Arsenal at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and win the Premier League title this season for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final campaign in charge in the 2012-13 season.
