Jamie Redknapp: 24-year-old will be Man United icon, he’s pure showbusiness
Jamie Redknapp heaps praise on Paul Pogba following his return to action for Manchester United
Jamie Redknapp is backing Paul Pogba to develop into a key player for Manchester United in the coming seasons.
The 24-year-old midfielder made his return from injury on Saturday as he helped to inspire Jose Mourinho’s men to a 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
Pogba scored one and set up another as he marked his return from the hamstring problem with an impressive man of the match display for the Red Devils.
The midfielder will now be hoping to stay fit as the hectic festive period in the Premier League looms large.
Former Liverpool star Redknapp has revealed that he is a huge fan of the France international, and is tipping him to be a huge hit at Old Trafford.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “Paul Pogba has all the ingredients to become a Manchester United icon. He is pure showbusiness.
“He’ll get plenty of stick from old-school fans for the haircuts, the emojis and his Instagram profile but the kids love him. He is a modern football star.
“Pogba is a showman on the pitch, too. He has all the tricks and flicks – and his dinked cross for Anthony Martial to head in the equaliser against Newcastle was pure class.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their Champions League clash against Basel on Wednesday night as they look to book their place in the knockout phase of Europe’s elite club competition.
The Red Devils need just one more point to secure their progress from their group, before they turn their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their trip to Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
