Paul Pogba has told Manchester United fans that the Red Devils need both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo to be back fully fit to boost their title challenge this season.

Pogba made his return from injury on Saturday as he helped to fire Manchester United to an impressive 4-1 victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford to keep them in second place in the table.

Ibrahimovic also made his first appearance of the season when he came off the bench in the second half following his lay-off with a serious knee injury.

And defender Rojo was also named on the bench for the Red Devils as Manchester United claimed victory thanks to goals from Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling, Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester United are already playing catch-up with Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s men currently eight points ahead of their bitter local rivals.

And midfielder Pogba has talked up the importance of the Red Devils having the likes of Ibrahimovic and Rojo back available as the hectic festive period in the Premier League looms large.

Pogba told MUTV after Saturday’s game: “Zlatan’s back and Marcos after a long injury.

“It was hard for them but they kept believing and worked hard to come back.

“We need them to win the league and we’re really glad they’re here.”

Manchester United return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a trip to Switzerland to take on Basel.
