Major boost for Man United as key man set to be fit to face Newcastle – report
Phil Jones is expected to be fit for Manchester United's clash against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon, say reports
Phil Jones is optimistic of being fit for Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday, according to reports in the British media.
The Guardian is reporting that the defender is poised to be ready to feature for the Red Devils after he suffered a calf injury while playing for England.
Jones was substituted during the goalless draw with Germany last week after he suffered a suspected recurrence of the injury he picked up against Huddersfield Town last month.
However, according to the report, the early signs are positive, and Jones is hopeful of being ready to play against Newcastle this weekend.
The 25-year-old defender has started all 11 games in the Premier League for Manchester United so far this season and has been a key part of the Red Devils’ defence under Jose Mourinho in recent weeks.
Manchester United head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their 1-0 loss to Chelsea before the international break.
The Red Devils already find themselves eight points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title as they look to catch their local rivals.
