Steven Gerrard names two Man United stars who have the ‘X-factor’
Steven Gerrard talks up the importance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba for Manchester United
Steven Gerrard has talked up the importance of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been without the key duo for the last few months, with Ibrahimovic having struggled with a serious knee injury and Pogba having been sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Both players made their much-anticipated returns to the first team for Jose Mourinho’s men last weekend when they took on Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The pair also both featured for the Red Devils during the 1-0 loss to Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
And former Liverpool star Gerrard has admitted that they pair are both crucial to Manchester United.
Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, Gerrard said: “They [Ibrahimovic and Pogba] are two players with the X-Factor.
“They can create and score out of nothing. They’re two big, strong powerful units.
“I think that’s how Jose Mourinho has improved this team – he’s created a strong, powerful team that’s very efficient – and those two certainly add a lot to Man United.”
Manchester United will look to dust themselves down as they prepare for their Premier League clash against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Mourinho’s side are currently second in the Premier League table and eight points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games of the new campaign.
The Red Devils will be hoping to close that gap when they host Manchester City at Old Trafford on 10 December.
Manchester United need to avoid defeat against CSKA Moscow in their final group game next month to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
