Enzo Diaz has admitted that he has been flattered by the speculation linking him with a transfer to Manchester United and that it would be a dream for him to join the Red Devils.

There have been reports in the British media in recent days suggesting that Diaz is a potential replacement for Luke Shaw at Old Trafford, with the England international’s days at the club said to be numbered.

Manchester United are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window draws ever nearer, and it’s not clear whether the reports suggesting Diaz is a possible target for the Red Devils is anything more than pure speculation at this stage.

However, the 21-year-old Argentine has now admitted that he has heard about the reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford and admits it would a dream transfer for him.

Diaz told Ataque Futbolero, as quoted by Metro: “I found out about it [Man United’s interest] on Saturday morning, but later I did not talk to anyone other than my agent.

“My agent told me that they were delighted and they were going to see me a couple more games.

“It is the dream of any footballer [to play for Manchester United]. However, I need to remain focused on what we are doing and enjoying this moment.”

Diaz currently plays for Argentine side Agropecuario.

Manchester United return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Newcastle United at Old Trafford next weekend.

The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table under Jose Mourinho last season.
