Man United want to sign 28-year-old attacker rather than Antoine Griezmann – report
Manchester United want to sign Real Madrid's Gareth Bale ahead of Antoine Griezmann, according to reports
Jose Mourinho has prioritised Manchester United signing Gareth Bale ahead of a deal to bring in Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.
Don Balon, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Red Devils boss has cooled his interest in the France international.
Manchester United were thought to be close to signing Griezmann last summer before Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban led to the striker committing his future to los Rojiblancos.
The 20-time English champions instead signed Romelu Lukaku in a £75m deal from Everton in the summer transfer window.
According to the same article, Mourinho is prepared to go all out to sign Real Madrid winger Bale to add more pace to his Manchester United team.
Indeed, the story goes on to suggest the Manchester United boss isn’t worried about Bale’s persistent injury woes after he was sidelined until 2018.
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table but eight points behind current leaders Manchester City after 11 games.
The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 loss to defending champions Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge last time out.
Mourinho signed Lukaku, Benfica defender Victor Lindelof and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic in the summer transfer window.
