Man United boss Jose Mourinho is ‘confirmed’ admirer of Mesut Ozil – report
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has a concrete interest in signing Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, according to reports
Jose Mourinho has concrete interest in bringing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil to Manchester United, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Red Devils are monitoring the unfolding situation between Ozil and Arsenal ahead of the expiration of his current deal.
The same article states that Ozil has been offered a staggering £275,000-a-week contract to remain at the FA Cup holders with less than 12 months remaining on his present deal.
However, the Germany international could be open to a fresh start given Arsenal’s well-documented struggles under Wenger over the past two or three seasons.
The Daily Mirror report describes Mourinho as a “confirmed” admirer of Ozil having worked with the World Cup winner for three seasons at Real Madrid.
Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and four points ahead of Arsene Wenger’s side after 11 games.
The Gunners lost 3-1 to Premier League leaders Manchester City in their last top-flight outing to leave them 12 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s side.
Ozil was criticised for his poor performance at The Etihad as Arsenal slumped to their fourth defeat on the road this term.
The German midfielder moved to Arsenal in a £42.5m deal from Real Madrid in 2013.
