The England veteran has entered the final 12 months of his current contract with the 20-time English champions.
The 32-year-old hasn’t agreed a contract extension with the Red Devils to raise questions about his long-term future at Old Trafford.
Young scored Manchester United’s winner in a 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion thanks to a deflected strike last weekend.
The former Aston Villa winger continued his remarkable goal-scoring run with two goals in a 4-2 victory over his ex-club Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend.
Of course, Young will be desperate to retain his starting place in the Manchester United side for Saturday evening’s trip to top-six rivals Arsenal.
Asked about the England international’s future at the Europa League winners, former Manchester United defender urged Jose Mourinho to keep the full-back at Old Trafford.
“I’d definitely keep him. I think he’s a fantastic professional first and foremost. He’s a great influence on the younger players in the dressing room. And he’s a very, very good pro,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“He works hard, he trains hard and you see that. Players that are on the edge of the first team when they’re called upon to come and play in the first team you can see how good professionals they are.
“If they come in and look fit and hit the ground running, that means they’re good pros. And he’s done that on numerous occasions this season.”
Young has scored two goals and has made two assists in 10 games in the Premier League in the 2017-18 season.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but won the Europa League and the League Cup under Mourinho last term.
The Red Devils signed three players in the summer transfer window.
