Paul Merson has claimed that Manchester United will have to “park the bus” in front of their home fans when they welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford next month.

The Citizens has been in superb form this season and have only dropped two points after having won 12 of their opening 13 Premier League games.

Pep Guardiola’s men look like a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League this season and it seem they are going to take some stopping in the title race.

Manchester City are already eight point ahead of their closest rivals Manchester United in the race for the Premier League title.

The two teams will do battle at Old Trafford in what promises to be a fascinating showdown between the two teams in the Premier League on 10 December.

However, because Manchester City are looking so strong in attack, Merson is expecting to see Manchester United try to shut up shop to keep them at bay.

Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports, Merson said: “I don’t see anyone stopping City. I can’t wait for the Utd vs City game. You will see something at that game you’ve never seen.

“Man Utd will have to park the bus at home in front of 75,000.

“It will be significant because it is City. Look at what City have done.

“Mourinho is very clever – he doesn’t want to start picking fights.”

Manchester United, who beat Brighton 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday, are preparing for their Premier League showdown with Arsenal at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils finished sixth in the Premier League table last term.
