Charlie Nicholas states his prediction for Qarabag v Chelsea
The Arsenal legend is tipping Chelsea to beat Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday night
Charlie Nicholas is tipping Willian to fire Chelsea to a 2-0 win at Qarabag on Wednesday night.
The defending Premier League champions are looking to secure their spot in the Champions League round of 16 with three points against the Azerbaijan outfit in Baku.
Chelsea lost 3-0 to Serie A giants AS Roma at Stadio Olimpico in their last Champions League outing to drop down to second place in Group C.
The title holders are still four points ahead of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side in the group with two games remaining.
The west London side have been in excellent Premier League form since their setback in the Italian capital.
Chelsea produced a dominant performance in a 1-0 victory over title rivals Manchester United at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
The defending English champions were emphatic 4-0 winners against West Brom at the Hawthorns Stadium as Eden Hazard produced a brilliant performance with a goal and an assist.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is backing Chelsea to beat Qarabag in the Champions League to secure their spot in the knockout stage.
“Chelsea have responded well to their issue but, as we saw Antonio Conte linked with the Italy job, the feeling still does seem to be when he will go, not if,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“Eden Hazard is gradually looking sharper and Cesc Fabregas was fantastic at the weekend. Conte will just want the job done and to save as much energy before a long journey back.
“I could see him resting Alvaro Morata, giving the young lad Charly Musonda another game, but I do still see a strong side taking care of business.”
Chelsea haven’t won the Champions League crown since 2012 when the Blues beat German club Bayern Munich on penalties at the Allianz Arena.
