Gary Lineker reacts to Liverpool FC’s 3-3 draw at Sevilla
The Spurs legend reacts to Liverpool's 3-3 draw at Sevilla on Tuesday night
Gary Lineker criticised Liverpool FC after Tuesday night’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Sevilla after an embarrassing collapse in the Champions League.
The Reds made the trip to Spain knowing that a win would be enough to secure a place in the Champions League last 16.
Liverpool FC made the breakthrough inside two minutes thanks to Brazil international Roberto Firmino.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 22nd minute following Sadio Mane’s athletic diving header to give Liverpool FC some breathing room.
Eight minutes later, the Reds were 3-0 up thanks to Firmino’s second goal after Mane’s effort was parried into the Brazilian’s path.
Sevilla pulled one goal back in the 50th minute after Firmino wasted the chance to score his hat-trick and Philippe Coutinho was denied.
Alberto Moreno made a defensive mistake to allow Sevilla to cut Liverpool FC’s advantage to one goal with 25 minutes to play.
And Guido Pizarro levelled in the second minute of added time to rescue a point for the hosts.
Former Spurs legend Lineker was critical of Jurgen Klopp’s team for a disastrous second half at Sevilla.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Oh dear Liverpool. 3 nil up at halftime now 3-3.”
Liverpool will welcome Premier League champions Chelsea to Anfield in their next top-flight fixture on Saturday evening.
The Reds are in fifth place in the table but 12 points behind current leaders Manchester City.
Klopp’s men can move to within a point of Chelsea if Liverpool beat the third-placed team.
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term.
