Jose Mourinho used the words “amazing, phenomenal, fantastic” to describe Manchester United’s 3-1 win at Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night.

The Red Devils were looking to extend their three-game winning run in the Premier League and move to within five points from leaders Manchester City.

Manchester United made a brilliant start when Ecuador international Antonio Valencia put the hosts on the back foot with a fourth-minute opener at the Emirates Stadium.

The Red Devils doubled their lead a mere seven minutes later when Jesse Lingard eased into a 2-0 lead following excellent work from France international Anthony Martial.

Arsenal looked to get back into the Premier League clash but David De Gea produced 14 saves to keep out the home side during the bitter encounter at The Emirates.

Club record signing Alexandre Lacazette halved the deficit in the opening minutes of the second half following Aaron Ramsey’s brilliant assist.

Manchester United restored their two-goal advantage when Paul Pogba teed up Lingard for his second goal of the night to put the result beyond doubt.

Pogba’s late sending off added to the drama but Manchester Untied secured three points to put pressure on Manchester City ahead of their home clash against West Ham United.

Speaking to the media following Manchester United’s 3-1 win at The Emirates, Mourinho was asked to summarise his team’s performance at their bitter rivals.

“I loved the way my team played and fought,” Mourinho told BT Sport.

“Arsenal played in some period amazing attacking football – creating difficulties for us. But I have to say that my players deserve all the great words. I don’t know so many in English but amazing, phenomenal, fantastic.

“They deserved three points.”
