Alexis Sanchez will follow Mesut Ozil out of Arsenal if the German midfielder is allowed to leave the north London club, according to Garth Crooks.

The German midfielder’s future has been a source debate over the past 12 months or so after both Ozil and Sanchez failed to agree new deals with the FA Cup holders.

Indeed, Arsenal risk losing the pair for nothing next summer unless Arsene Wenger decides to cash in on his prized assets in the January transfer window.

While Sanchez was linked with a move to Manchester City, although the Chile international’s form has dipped in the 2017-18 Premier League season.

Ozil, on the other hand, has scored four goals and has made five assists in his last 10 games in all competitions.

Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Ozil given his past working relationship with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.

Former Spurs forward Crooks warned Arsenal that Sanchez could soon follow Ozil out the exit door if the World Cup winner is permitted to leave the north London club.

“Arsenal have a squad capable of finishing in the top four but the real issue is will Ozil stay at Arsenal?” Crooks told BBC Sport.

“Arsene Wenger insists he will, but he would say that wouldn’t he? If Ozil goes then where does that leave Alexis Sanchez?

“There is no doubt in my mind that one player gets his inspiration from the other and should Ozil leave then it would almost signal the departure of Sanchez too.

“The question both players must be asking themselves is, ‘what is the point of staying at Arsenal?’.

“It looks like Pep Guardiola and Manchester City could be dominating the Premier League for the next few years.”

Arsenal signed Ozil in a £42.5m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window.

Less than 12 months later, Sanchez completed a £35m transfer to Arsenal from Spanish outlet Barcelona.
