Ian Wright has claimed that Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez wouldn’t be able to get into the Manchester City team given Raheem Sterling’s form.

The Gunners forward has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League leaders over the past 12 months following a difficult spell at Arsenal.

Sanchez hasn’t signed a contract extension with the north London club despite entering the final year of his current deal with the FA Cup holders.

The Citizens were reportedly close to sign Sanchez on transfer deadline day before a deal fell through after Arsenal failed to sign AS Monaco forward Thomas Lemar.

Sanchez has continued to be linked with a move to Manchester City in the current campaign despite Arsene Wenger’s confidence his star man will stay.

Sterling, who was linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer, has been in fine form in recent weeks and scored the winner in a last-gasp 2-1 win over Southampton mid-week.

Former Arsenal striker Wright claimed that Sanchez wouldn’t even get in the Manchester City team on current form.

“I look at Sanchez and I can’t see how he plays in that team. Sanchez holds onto the ball too long. Sterling’s movement off the ball is fantastic now. His touch has got better,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Arsenal signed Sanchez in a £35m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
