The Gunners are in fourth place in the Premier League following a three-game winning run since a 3-1 loss to leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before the international break.
Arsenal were impressive 2-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby at the start of November thanks to goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners netted an added-time winner from the penalty spot in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Burnley last weekend to extend their winning run to two Premier League games.
Arsenal racked up an emphatic 5-0 win against Huddersfield Town last weekend thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Sanchez.
Manchester United lost 1-0 to defending champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at the end of October, while the Red Devils could only manage a goalless draw at Liverpool FC.
Jose Mourinho’s side are eight points behind current leaders Manchester City after 14 games.
Former Gunners midfielder Merson is backing Arsenal to extend their winning run at the Emirates Stadium to 14 games.
“Raheem Sterling’s goal against Southampton makes this game very interesting now as United have to win this game to keep City in view,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I think Arsenal can make it 13 wins a row. They’ll make the top four.”
Arsenal have beaten Manchester United in their last two meetings at The Emirates.
