Gary Neville: How Romelu Lukaku needs to improve for Arsenal v Man United
The Manchester United legend explains how Romelu Lukaku needs to improve ahead of Arsenal clash
Gary Neville has challenged Manchester United to disrupt Arsenal centre-halves at The Emirates on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils will make the long trip to north London in the Premier League this weekend in search of a fourth successive Premier League win.
Jose Mourinho’s managed to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to defending champions Chelsea with successive victories over Newcastle United, Brighton and Watford.
Lukaku struggled to make an impact in Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen managed to tame the summer signing.
The 24-year-old was ineffectual in a 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield and a 1-0 win over top-six rivals Tottenham Hotspur in October.
Former Manchester United defender Neville believes Lukaku needs to be more physical against Arsenal’s centre-halves in the top of the table clash at The Emirates on Saturday evening.
“For a striker, it is all about your goals and unfortunately, people will always measure him by that, but away from the goals his contribution has to be big, to mess their centre-halves about,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“He’s had his struggles but ultimately that was always going to happen at some point after his blistering start, but this is a critical stage of the season where he has to deliver.”
Lukaku has scored eight goals and has made four assists in 14 games in the Premier League this season.
The Belgian forward moved to Manchester United in a £75m deal from Everton in the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old striker has scored 25 goals in 36 games in the Premier League during his final season at Everton.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term.
