Rio Ferdinand has blamed Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi for Arsenal’s disappointing 3-1 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Gunners slumped to a disappointing defeat by their home fans at The Emirates as two goals from Jesse Lingard after Antonio Valencia’s opener wrapped up the three points for the visitors.

Alexandre Lacazette did pull a goal back for the hosts in the second half by Arsenal were unable to mount a comeback against Jose Mourinho’s men.

Both of Manchester United’s opening goals came after defensive lapses from Koscielny and Mustafi at The Emirates as Arsenal slumped ti a disappointing defeat in front of their home fans.

Arsenal had plenty of chances to score in both halves and former Manchester United defender Ferdinand believes that the game was lost because of individual errors.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, ex-defender Ferdinand said: “Wenger didn’t lose this game. Arsenal created chance after chance. They put the keeper under immense pressure.

“Individual mistakes cost Arsenal. Mustafi and Koscielny have taken his game-plan out of his hands.”

Arsenal will aim to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday.

Manchester United, meanwhile, will look to close the gap to Manchester City when the Citizens travel to Old Trafford in the Manchester derby clash later on Sunday afternoon.
