Arsenal should be braced for Mesut Ozil to leave The Emirates, according to Tim Sherwood.

The Germany international has been linked with a potential move to Manchester United in recent weeks.

The 29-year-old has scored three times and has made five assists in his last 10 outings to hit some top form.

Ozil’s critics have inevitably suggested that the German’s upturn in performance level isn’t coincidental with the January transfer window just around the corner.

To his credit, the World Cup winner has dug deep with some impressive displays, unlike his Arsenal team-mate Alexis Sanchez.

Former Spurs manager Sherwood believes Ozil will leave Arsenal next month or in the summer irrespective of his commitment on the pitch.

“If he was going to sign for Arsenal, he would have done it by now. The bottom line is he is going to leave.” Sherwood told Sky Sports.

Ozil moved to Arsenal in a £42.5m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window.

The World Cup winner has won three FA Cups in four seasons at Arsenal but hasn’t propelled Arsene Wenger’s side any closer to Premier League glory.

The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Arsenal finished the season unbeaten.
