The Liverpool FC legend reacts to Philippe Coutinho's performance in Saturday's 5-1 win at Brighton
Dietmar Hamann hailed Philippe Coutinho’s performance as “pure class” in Liverpool’s landslide 5-1 win against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool made the breakthrough in the first half thanks to Emre Can’s powerful header to settle Jurgen Klopp’s makeshift starting XI.
Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino doubled the visitors’ lead less than 60 seconds later after Coutinho and Mohamed Salah carved open the Brighton defence.
Glenn Murray missed a great chance to make it 2-1 in the 48th minute and paid the price when Firmino extended Liverpool FC’s lead to 3-0 down the other end of the pitch.
The Brighton striker reduced the deficit from the spot following a soft penalty award before Coutinho’s cunning free-kick under the opposition wall restored their three-goal cushion.
And in what was a Brazilian affair for Liverpool FC on the east coast on Saturday afternoon, the Liverpool number 10’s deflected goal secured three points.
Former Liverpool FC midfielder Hamann took to Twitter to lavish praise on the 25-year-old Barcelona target following his superb goals in a brilliant performance at the promoted side.
