The Liverpool FC legend reacts to the Reds' win at Brighton on Saturday afternoon

John Aldridge praised Liverpool FC for a dogged 5-1 win at Brighton in the absence of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.
The Reds were without Gomez due to illness, while Cameroon defender Matip suffered a thigh problem to rule him out until January.
Jurgen Klopp opted to start midfielders Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum as part of a back three alongside centre-half Dejan Lovren at Brighton.
Liverpool FC made the breakthrough in the first half when Can powered a header into the net from a corner to settle the away side.
The Merseyside outfit doubled their lead less than 60 seconds later when Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah combined to devastating effect before Roberto Firmino finished from close range.
Glenn Murray missed the chance to reduce the deficit in the 48th minute and Liverpool FC capitalised with a sweeping counter-attacking move to allow Firmino to make it 3-0 down the other end.
Brighton did get one goal back thanks to Murray’s penalty when Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson was somewhat harshly adjudged to have pushed Shane Duffy.
Coutinho scored a mischievous free-kick with five minutes remaining before the Liverpool number 10 doubled his tally with a deflected strike.
Former Liverpool FC striker Aldridge was pleased with the Merseyside outfit’s performance given the injury problems in Klopp’s squad.
Aldridge wrote on Twitter: “Take that performance all day!players out of position also through injury and illness.Very controlled.Lessons from Seville etc should be noted by jurgen at the break!”
