The Spanish striker fired the home side into the lead in the 46th minute at Stamford Bridge as he continued his strong start to life at Stamford Bridge.
Morata, 25, played 82 minutes in west London as Marcos Alonso also found the net to help Chelsea return to winning ways in the Premier League following their goalless draw with Everton last time out.
The striker has now scored 10 goals and made four assists in his first 17 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League.
And Conte singled the Spaniard out for special praise after his solid display against the visitors on Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Tuesday, Conte said: “Morata is our number nine and is important.
“Today he played a good game with and without the ball, his commitment was great.
“But I’m happy with the commitment of all my players.”
Chelsea will now look to make it back to back wins in the Premier League when they host Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Blues are currently third in the Premier League table as they look to try and keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the table.
