Antonio Conte: What I think of Alvaro Morata’s start at Chelsea
The Chelsea manager is pleased with Alvaro Morata's impact at Stamford Bridge
Antonio Conte has reiterated that he is really happy with Chelsea summer signing Alvaro Morata.
The Spain international completed a £58m club-record move to the defending Premier League champions from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
Morata was brought in to help improve Chelsea’s attacking options after the title holders missed out on the addition of Romelu Lukaku, who completed a switch to Manchester United.
The 24-year-old has scored nine goals in the 2017-18 Premier League season following Morata’s header in Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
The Chelsea forward has also netted in a 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League back in September to make an impressive start to his Blues career.
Speaking to the media about Morata’s impact at Chelsea following his big-money summer move to the Premier League champions, Conte reiterated his content with the ex-Juventus forward.
“Alvaro is very happy to play for Chelsea, and I am very happy to have a player like him,” Conte said.
“For Alvaro it is the first season to play with regularity, and he is showing he is a great striker.
“For me, he has a lot of room for improvement and to become one of the best strikers in the world. I repeat: I am very happy that Morata is in our team.”
Chelsea finished seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League after a one-season absence.
The Blues are looking to win a second Premier League title in three seasons to underline their dominance in the English top flight.
