The Brazilian has been out of action for the last few weeks after struggling for fitness at the west London side.
Indeed, Luiz’s last appearance for Chelsea came in the 4-0 Champions League win over Qarabag on 22 November.
There has been talk about Luiz having fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte this season after a reported disagreement between the pair back in October.
However, the 30-year-old will surely be working hard to prove his fitness as the hectic festive period in the Premier League looms large.
Luiz looked to be in high spirits as he posed for a picture with Chelsea legend Essien during his visit to Cobham last week.
The defender posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “WHAT? Big bro @iam_ess.”
Chelsea return to League Cup action on Wednesday night when they host Bournemouth in the quarter-finals of the competition at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will then travel to Everton on Saturday lunchtime for their final Premier League game before Christmas.
Chelsea are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and defend their title this term.
