Dennis Wise believes that Chelsea need to add another clinical goal-scorer to their squad in the January transfer window if they are to challenge for the title again.

Antonio Conte’s men were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon as they fell further behind leaders Manchester City.

Indeed, Chelsea are now third in the Premier League table and 16 points behind leaders Manchester City, who have so far only dropped two points this season.

Chelsea were the Premier League’s top performing team last season as they won the title in style in Conte’s first campaign in charge at the club.

However, former Chelsea star Wise feels that the west London side have some significant work to do in order to bolster their squad to challenge for the title again.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday, Wise said: “They need someone who will get them 20 or 25 goals a year.

“Maybe two of them who are going to do that to then compete with Man City. They haven’t got too many of them who can score lots of goals.”

Chelsea, who face Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League, will now look to return to winning ways when they host Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.

The Blues are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window offers Conte with the opportunity to bolster his squad.
