Jamie Redknapp: Chelsea star deserves special mention, he made difference in 3-1 win
The former Liverpool midfielder singles out Chelsea's Victor Moses for special praise after Saturday's 3-1 win over Newcastle
Jamie Redknapp has singled out Victor Moses for special praise after Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
The defending Premier League champions welcomed former manager Rafael Benitez and his Magpies outfit to Stamford Bridge in the weekend’s early kick-off.
English forward Dwight Gayle broke the deadlock for the visitors against the run of play a matter of weeks after the Newcastle striker netted at Old Trafford.
Chelsea responded less than eight minutes later when Belgium international Eden Hazard pounced on a loose ball to fire past the Newcastle shot stopper.
Moses returned from an injury problem last month and the Chelsea wing-back provided the cross to tee up Alvaro Morata for his 10th Premier League goal of the season.
The former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp heaped praise on Moses for his contribution to Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.
“Victor Moses deserves a mention. He made a huge difference,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“Antonio Conte has helped him become one of the best full-backs in world football. It was no surprise he made a contribution [against Newcastle].
“He was involved with the goal and the penalty.”
Chelsea are looking to win their third Premier League title in four seasons and back-to-back top-flight crowns under Antonio Conte.
Moses has made one assist in eight appearances in the Premier League this term in what has been a stop-start season for the African defender so far.
The Blues are in third place in the Premier League table but have a lot of ground to make up on current leaders Manchester City.
