Michael Owen states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Everton
The Liverpool legend is tipping Jurgen Klopp's men to win by two goals or more against Everton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon
Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to win by two goals or more against Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are in a rich vein of form following a resounding 7-0 win against Spartak Moscow in their final Champions League group stage fixture on Wednesday night.
Liverpool FC’s landslide win meant Klopp’s men became the most prolific Premier League team in the group stage following 23 goals in six outings to surpass Manchester United’s treble winners in 1998-99.
Klopp’s side have won three of their last four games in all competitions since a 3-3 draw at Sevilla in their penultimate group-stage fixture.
Liverpool FC have scored a staggering 40 goals in their last 11 outings in the Champions League and the Premier League to underline their attacking prowess.
Former Reds striker Owen is confident Klopp’s men will comfortably dispatch Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
“Liverpool have scored 12 goals in their last two games and it will be some feat if Sam Allardyce were able to get a point for his Everton side who will find the Reds at Anfield a different proposition to his first challenge as Blues manager – Huddersfield at Goodison,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Liverpool are high in confidence, have pace and power in abundance and it could be a very long afternoon for the Blue half of Merseyside.”
Liverpool FC were 1-0 winners against Everton at Goodison Park last season thanks to Sadio Mane’s late winner on the blue half of Merseyside.
The Reds secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over the Toffees at Anfield in the Merseyside derby back in March thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho, Mane and Divock Origi.
