Gary Lineker attempted to worry Liverpool FC fans about another Champions League collapse before the Reds’ second-half flurry sealed an emphatic win over Spartak Moscow to secure their place in the last 16.

The Reds missed out on the chance to secure top spot with a game to spare last time out after Liverpool FC squandered a 3-0 half-time lead to draw 3-3 with La Liga outfit Sevilla in their penultimate group-stage fixture.

Liverpool FC raced into an early lead with stand-in captain Philippe Coutinho broke the deadlock from the penalty spot before he doubled his tally with a stylish goal following a superb counter-attacking movement involving Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The Merseyside outfit made it 3-0 before the break when Firmino finished from close range to bring back memories of Liverpool FC’s commanding lead in Sevilla, only for the Reds to squander their advantage with some disastrous defender.

However, Mane put the result beyond doubt with a stunning volley from James Milner’s cross before Coutinho completed his hat-trick with a deflected goal in the second half.

Late goals from Mane and Salah sealed a 7-0 win to secure a memorable Champions League win.

Former Spurs legend Lineker couldn’t resist putting a grain of doubt in Liverpool FC mind’s at 3-0 before ending the Champions League clash with a flurry of goals.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool are now 3 up and they haven’t given up a 3 goal lead in the Champions League since……their last game.”
