Paul Merson is backing Liverpool FC to continue their strong form by beating Everton 2-0 in Sunday’s Merseyside derby clash at Anfield.

The Reds have been in fantastic attacking form in recent weeks, with Jurgen Klopp’s men having thrashed CSKA Moscow 7-0 at Anfield in their final Champions League group game on Wednesday night.

Liverpool FC also moved up into fourth place in the Premier League table last weekend with an impressive 5-1 victory over Brighton in the top flight.

The Merseyside outfit now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their crunch clash against their bitter local rivals at Anfield on Sunday.

And Merson is tipping the home side to have too much for Everton and secure a 2-0 victory over the Toffees in front of their home fans.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, former Arsenal star Merson said: “Everton are just going to come and park the bus and get 10 men behind the ball.

“Then, they will hope they’ll get something from a set piece. It will be tight, but Liverpool are just too good at home.

“Liverpool are scoring goals for fun at the moment, and I know their Achilles heel is their defence, but I just don’t see how Everton get at them.

“Sam Allardyce will do everything he can to make it a tight match, but that won’t be enough.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League under Klopp last season as they secured a return to the Champions League.

The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League table as they bid to try and get themselves into the title race heading into the hectic festive period in the top flight.
