Jamie Carragher names Liverpool FC star who was ‘excellent’ against Arsenal
Jamie Carragher heaps praise on Robero Firmino for doing his defensive duties during Liverpool FC's 3-3 draw with Arsenal
Jamie Carragher lavished praise on Roberto Firmino for his “excellent” performance in Liverpool FC’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League at The Emirates on Friday night.
The Brazilian attacker played the full 90 minutes for the Reds as he helped Jurgen Klopp’s men take a point from the exciting Premier League game at The Emirates.
Philippe Coutinho gave Liverpool FC the lead in the first half, before Mohamed Salah made it 2-0 shortly after half-time.
However, three quick-fire goals from Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil put Arsenal 3-2 up at The Emirates.
But it was Firmino who had the final say, as he netted an equaliser for the Reds to earn them a point against their top-four rivals.
Carragher was very impressed by Firmino’s display as the Brazilian notched up an assist and a goal, but he also pointed out that he produced a solid defensive performance.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Carragher said: “Firmino was excellent.
“We all know what he can do offensively. But he can also do a job defensively. What a headed clearance that was.”
The result left Liverpool FC in fourth place and a point above Arsenal over Christmas.
The Merseyside outfit, who finished in fourth place last term, return to Premier League action on Boxing Day, when they take on Swansea City at Anfield.
