Gary Lineker tells Liverpool FC to make this signing in January
Gary Lineker believes that Liverpool FC need to sign a central defender in the January transfer window
Gary Lineker has told Liverpool FC to sign a central defender next year to turn them into a “real threat” under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have been in good form in recent weeks and have recently climbed into fourth place in the Premier League table as they look to get themselves into the title race.
Liverpool FC have been widely praised for their free-flowing attacking displays of late, with the Reds having thrashed Brighton 5-1 in the Premier League last weekend, before a 7-0 demolition of Spartak Moscow at Anfield on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
However, the Merseyside outfit’s defending has been constantly called into question in recent weeks after a string of mixed performances at the back.
And former England star Lineker believes that signing a new, quality central defender could make all the difference for the Reds next year.
Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, Lineker said: “It remains the case [Liverpool need a centre-half].
“If Liverpool bring in a top class centre-half in, they could be a real threat.”
Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Everton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their good recent form.
The Reds are fourth in the table and 14 points behind leaders Manchester City after 15 games of the new campaign.
