Michael Owen makes confident prediction about Liverpool FC in the Champions League
Michael Owen admits that no team will want to face Liverpool FC in the last 16 of the Champions League
Michael Owen reckons that Liverpool FC will be a serious force to be reckoned with in the Champions League knockout phase.
The Reds secured their place in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition in style on Wednesday night when they thrashed CSKA Moscow 7-0 at Anfield.
Liverpool FC have been in brilliant form at Anfield in front of their home fans this season and their solid displays have helped them move up to fourth place in the Premier League table.
The Merseyside outfit will discover their opponents for the last 16 of the Champions League when the draw is made in Nyon on 11 December.
And former Liverpool FC star Owen reckons that no team will want to face Jurgen Klopp’s side because of their brilliant form at home so far this season.
Speaking to BT Sport on Wednesday night, former striker Owen said: “I can’t wait for the knockout stages already.
“Liverpool will be so hard to beat in the knockout competition. It doesn’t matter what score it is in the away game, at home, Liverpool can beat anybody by any score. Anything can happen.
“Lots of teams will want to avoid Liverpool in the knockout stage.”
Liverpool FC return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Everton in the Merseyside derby.
Klopp’s side are aiming to at least better their fourth-placed finish in the Premier League from last season.
Liverpool FC are yet to win a trophy since Klopp’s appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015.
