Liverpool FC ready to reunite Klopp with top 28-year-old striker – report
Liverpool FC will rival Chelsea to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports
Liverpool FC are ready to launch a bid to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Sunday Express is reporting that the Reds will look to sign the controversial Gabon international from Klopp’s former employers as Daniel Sturridge heads towards an Anfield exit.
The same article states that Dortmund are finally ready to sell the 28-year-old centre-forward despite the centre-forward’s impressive return of 17 goals in 19 games in all competitions.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC will face competition from defending Premier League champions Chelsea as Antonio Conte looks to add more cover for Alvaro Morata up front.
Klopp brought Aubameyang to Dortmund before the German coach stood down as manager at Westfalenstadion at the end of the 2014-15 season.
While the pair shared a mixed working relationship, the Liverpool FC manager isn’t the type of coach to hold a grudge to open up the possibility of Aubameyang moving to Anfield.
The Sunday Express claim that Sturridge is set to leave Anfield in the January transfer window to secure regular first-team football ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Indeed, Serie A giants AC Milan are being linked with a move to sign the former Chelsea and Manchester City striker, who has struggled to break into Klopp’s team this term.
