Jose Mourinho is adamant that the title race isn’t over despite Manchester United trailing Premier League leaders Manchester City by 11 points.

The Red Devils edged to a 1-0 win against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday night thanks to Romelu Lukaku’s first-half winner.

The summer signing’s header helped Manchester United to make an immediate return to winning ways following their derby disappointment last weekend.

The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Manchester City following goals either side of half-time from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi.

Manchester United are 11 points behind leaders Manchester City with 21 games to go in the title race.

The Citizens were 4-0 winners against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday night to set a new Premier League record with 15 successive victories.

Speaking to BBC Sport about the title race following Manchester United’s narrow win on Wednesday night, Mourinho said:

Mourinho is looking to win his fourth Premier League title but first with Manchester United following his appointment in 2016.

The Red Devils haven’t won the English top flight crown since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson in charge.

The 20-time English champions finished in sixth place in the table last season, although Mourinho prioritised the Europa League and the League Cup in the final months of the season.
