The Red Devils signed the Sweden international in a £30m deal from Portuguese outfit Benfica in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has made a slow start to his Manchester United career and was forced to wait to establish himself as a first-team regular.
Lindelof has grown in stature in the Manchester United defence over the past month or so alongside Chris Smalling for their clash against title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City.
The Swedish centre-half helped the Red Devils to secure an impressive 3-1 win at Arsenal in north London at the start of the month.
Lindelof was powerless to prevent Manchester City from securing a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford.
Former Manchester United starlet Djordjic believes Lindelof will improve even more when Eric Bailly makes his return to the Red Devils team.
“I would love to see Victor playing alongside Eric Bailly, who has been injured.
“I think he needs a leader beside him, somebody he can trust so he can spread the balls. To come on in the derby and do that well was great.
“I am happy to sit here as a Swede and talk well about his development.”
Manchester United have the second best defensive record in the Premier League despite concerns about their summer signing Lindelof.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic were still the first-choice centre-halves at Old Trafford.
